![]() Ive joined a number of forums to hopefully learn a bit about this topic in a short time period. I don't want to seem as though I'm marketing to you so Ill leave the company and product names out. ![]() *What are my next best options price (sub $100) wise for getting a quality recording? Using cleartune app I discovered that I jump a whole octave and I don’t produce. *What do I need to know about recording to understand where this product stands with people who are looking for top quality recording? Currently, I am practicing the left hand notes on my tenor sax and I noted a sharp difference between the A and G. *If not, would you be interested in an app that can record at 48kHZ? *If so, what were the pros and cons to using the app? *Does or has anyone here used an iPhone app to record anything? Ive tried to educate myself as best possible since joining this forum but I am pretty clueless when it comes to recording and was hoping you can help me out a bit. I'm not aware of any other apps like it that offer such a high kHz recording option. You can get a recording and send it to an FTP site or email it and then drop it into a timeline in an editing system with out having to make any conversions. There is an auxiliary cord you can use to attach the phone to a mic to make recordings. It offers EQ presets for gain, highs, mids, and lows. You can title recordings before making them. The only problem is that I don't know anything about recording haha. I'm currently in my last semester at business school and have been assigned to a senior project for a company that has developed an application for the iPhone that records at 48kHz. I found that out after receiving my iRig. You can get a nice distorted electric guitar sound, but if you want to record without distortion, youll have to purchase add ons. For example, they dont allow recording a 'clean' signal. The free app (AmpliTube) that IK Multimedia provides are not very useful. Ive joined this forum in search of some help with a school project. This is where the iRig Pro is a let down.

Each chimney was rolled via tracks onto a lift in the stage floor and then hooked onto the cable-net system above the stadium. Although the chimneys were very solid in appearance and each weighed more than one tonne, they were, in fact, inflatable and were filled by fans beneath the stage. With the grass removed, the stadium was transformed into a representation of industrial Britain led by Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel (played by Kenneth Branagh), complete with beam engines, textile looms and seven chimneys reaching up to 30m in height that appeared to rise from underneath the stadium. This was just one example of why 8,000 radios were needed, so the stage manager could constantly distribute instructions to make sure everyone was in exactly the right place at the right time. Not only did they need to find a surface that would be safe for people to dance across when it had previously been covered in potentially rain-sodden soil, but they also had to co-ordinate more than 2,000 cast members in the ripping up of the grass to reveal a stage set for the coming of the Industrial Revolution. But the introductory sequence of a ‘green and pleasant land’ - a romanticised scene of pastoral British life - created a unique challenge for the technical team: the rapid removal of 7,346m² of real turf. When the first details of the opening ceremony were revealed - including the 40 sheep, 10 chickens and three sheepdogs that were to appear - it sounded as if landscape architecture and husbandry would play more of a role than engineering. But for the most part, it’s about finding and understanding what it is they want to do, offering it if we can and, if not, offering an alternative that is spectacular.’ And we have issues such as gravity, budget and time, all of which affects what we can do. ‘Some things that you imagine in your head will be really effective but may not work in reality. ‘I suspect most things that they originally intended we have delivered in some way,’ said Shepperd. It was this ethos of extensive planning and collaboration that was carried through to the task of realising the creative team’s sometimes outlandish vision. In total, I think we installed about 600 tonnes of equipment into the stadium roof, which is exceptional for ceremonies.’ ‘We didn’t have to argue about the importance of putting in a big cable net they were prepared to work with us. ‘They knew the importance of ceremonies right from day one,’ said Shepperd. Above the audience’s heads, the cable-net system supported and moved many of the ceremony’s elements In particular, this led to a roof design that could support a huge cable-net system (see box), which allowed the ceremony team to fly in scenery, lighting and performers with ease and saw the introduction of panels of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) behind each seat in the stadium, which turned the audience into a giant display screen with greater resolution than ever seen before. He then worked closely with the engineers at Sir Robert McAlpine and Buro Happold to ensure that the stadium would be ready for whatever demands the artistic team came up with. Shepperd was brought on board back in 2006 - several years before the stadium was even designed - to advise on what was needed to make the ceremony a success. Working on a home Olympics also enabled an unprecedented level of co-ordination between the ceremony’s technical team and the Games organisers from the very start. There was a massive trepidation after Beijing, which was obviously a spectacular and huge ceremony, and we were very keen to try and do something different.’ ‘To do it in London in front of a home audience was obviously really good. ‘The UK is the home of large event production, particularly for ceremonies,’ said the ceremony’s technical director Piers Shepperd. The Olympics were a chance for a prominent British team of experts who have worked on opening ceremonies across the globe, from Athens in 2004 to last year’s Pan-Arab Games in Doha, to make a triumphant homecoming. But engineering was also vital in bringing to life an opening ceremony that blew away the nation’s cynicism and set the mood for what some international commentators around the world have called ‘the best Olympics ever’. The London 2012 Olympic Games showed off British engineering at its best, from the sweeping designs of the Olympic venues to the rising importance of sports technology in training. The Olympic Flame was kindled in Thomas Heatherwick’s 204-element, 23-tonne cauldron Stephen Harris spoke to the engineers behind the spectacle. The London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony required a great deal of innovative - but hidden - engineering to make it work. ![]() Aimed at taking the drudgery out of calculating payroll taxes, NannyPay2, a Windows-Macintosh compatible payroll program, is designed specifically with the needs of the household employer in mind. ![]() First, he did away with the quotient scores of older intelligence tests (the Q in "I.Q."). The Wechsler scales introduced many novel concepts and breakthroughs to the intelligence testing movement. The tests are still based on his philosophy that intelligence is "the global capacity to act purposefully, to think rationally, and to deal effectively with environment" (cited in Kaplan & Saccuzzo, p. Wechsler originally created these tests to find out more about his patients at the Bellevue clinic and he found the then-current Binet IQ test unsatisfactory. From these he derived the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) in 1949 and the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI) in 1967. The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) was developed first in 1939 and then called the Wechsler-Bellevue Intelligence Test. Although his test did not directly measure nonintellective factors, it took these factors into careful account in its underlying theory. Wechsler objected to the single score offered by the 1937 Binet scale. He emphasized that factors other than intellectual ability are involved in intelligent behavior. He was one of the most influential advocates of the role of nonintellective factors in testing. ![]() ![]() Wechsler is best known for his intelligence tests. ![]() Life and Death on the Oregon Trail: Provisions for Births and Lethal Circumstances. Sourcesįirst Emigrants on the Michigan Trail. The National Park Service named it a National Historic Trail in 1981 and continues to educate the public on its importance. It was also a main thoroughfare for massive cattle drives between 18.Īlthough modern progress ended the need for the Oregon Trail, its historical significance could not be ignored. Still, as towns were established along the Oregon Trail, the route continued to serve thousands of emigrants with “gold fever” on their way to California. With the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in Utah in 1869, westward wagon trains decreased significantly as settlers chose the faster and more reliable mode of transportation. Unfortunately, however, not all the books were accurate and left some settlers lost and in danger of running out of provisions. Trail guides wrote guidebooks, so settlers no longer had to bring an escort with them on their journey. Settlements and additional supply posts appeared along the way which gave weary travelers a place to rest and regroup. Bridges and ferries were built to make water crossings safer. Over time, conditions along the Oregon Trail improved. It also became a graveyard for tens of thousands of pioneer men, women and children and countless livestock. As more and more settlers headed west, the Oregon Trail became a well-beaten path and an abandoned junkyard of surrendered possessions. Travelers often left warning messages to those journeying behind them if there was an outbreak of disease, bad water or hostile American Indian tribes nearby. It was not uncommon for people to be crushed beneath wagon wheels or accidentally shot to death, and many people drowned during perilous river crossings. Most people died of diseases such as dysentery, cholera, smallpox or flu, or in accidents caused by inexperience, exhaustion and carelessness. According to the Oregon California Trails Association, almost one in ten who embarked on the trail didn’t survive. Some settlers looked at the Oregon Trail with an idealistic eye, but it was anything but romantic. Some people continued south into California. Then they crossed the desert to Fort Hall, the second trading post.įrom there they navigated Snake River Canyon and a steep, dangerous climb over the Blue Mountains before moving along the Columbia River to the settlement of Dalles and finally to Oregon City. So many people added their name to the rock it became known as the “Great Register of the Desert.”Īfter leaving Independence Rock, settlers climbed the Rocky Mountains to the South Pass. ![]() The settlers gave a sigh of relief if they reached Independence Rock-a huge granite rock that marked the halfway point of their journey-by July 4 because it meant they were on schedule. While Lewis and Clark had made their way west from 1804 to 1806, merchants, traders and trappers were also among the first people to forge a path across the Continental Divide. Missionaries Blaze the Oregon Trailīy the 1840s, the Manifest Destiny had Americans in the East eager to expand their horizons. Without the Oregon Trail and the passing of the Oregon Donation Land Act in 1850, which encouraged settlement in the Oregon Territory, American pioneers would have been slower to settle the American West in the 19th century. The trail was arduous and snaked through Missouri and present-day Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Idaho and finally into Oregon. The Oregon Trail was a roughly 2,000-mile route from Independence, Missouri, to Oregon City, Oregon, which was used by hundreds of thousands of American pioneers in the mid-1800s to emigrate west. |
